How much is a tarot card reading? The short answer
There's no official rate card for tarot, so treat the figures below as rough, general orientation rather than survey data. Broadly, the market falls into a few tiers:
- Free: app draws and website generators. You get a card and a stock description, usually instantly.
- Short readings from a human reader: one question, one to three cards, delivered in writing. These commonly land somewhere around 10 to 30 in dollars, pounds or euros.
- Full written or recorded spreads: more cards and a longer interpretation, often somewhere in the 25 to 75 range.
- Live sessions: video, phone or in person, usually priced per half hour or hour. Well-known readers can charge 100 or more for an hour.
- Pay-per-minute psychic lines: the least predictable, because the meter runs the whole time you talk.
Why there's no single average cost
When people search for the average cost of a tarot reading, they're usually comparing things that aren't alike. A one-card email answer and an hour on video are different services, and averaging them tells you nothing. Compare within a format: one written question against another, one live hour against another.
Within a format, look at what's actually delivered before you look at the number. How many cards? Do you get the interpretation in writing, so you can reread it? Can you ask a follow-up? A 20 euro reading with all of that is cheaper, in any sense that matters, than a 15 euro one that sends back three generic sentences.
What you're actually paying for
Laying the cards takes minutes: shuffle, cut, place them in positions. The real work starts afterwards. A reader has to take in the spread as a whole: which suit dominates, whether the Major Arcana are taking over the story, how the cards lean on each other. - Format. Written, recorded and live readings cost differently. Live time is expensive because it can't be revised or scheduled around.

3-Card Reading, 22 EUR. Three cards, each interpreted, plus a summary of what they say together. This is the format for decisions and situations with layers. Picture a question about feeling stuck at work that draws the Four of Cups, the Page of Wands and the Three of Pentacles. The Four is the figure under the tree, arms folded, ignoring the cup offered from a cloud. The Page studies a sprouting staff: a new idea, still small. The Three of Pentacles puts a craftsman in a cathedral, showing his work to the people who commissioned it. Together: stop waiting for the offer to look perfect, take the small spark seriously, and build it with others. No single card tells that story.

Three yes or no questions, or one spread?
Three Yes / No readings cost 27 EUR. A 3-Card Reading costs 22 EUR, includes a follow-up, and gives you more. Three separate cards are three answers that know nothing about each other. Three cards in one spread speak to each other, and the interpretation weaves them into one picture.

The reverse holds too. For one small, clear question, three cards can be more than you need.
The follow-up add-on, and paying
One follow-up question is available as a +5 EUR add-on. Since it's already included in the 3-Card and Love Clarity readings, it really only matters for the Yes / No format. It's worth adding when the card says no and you want to know what to do instead, or when the answer comes out unclear and you want to know what it hinges on. Nothing else is sold on top: the interpretation and the spread photo are always in the base price.
You pay online by card, Google Pay, Klarna or local payment methods. After payment you get a private link by email where you can follow the order status and later open the finished reading with the photo of your cards. Typical delivery is 8 to 18 hours for Yes / No, 18 to 36 hours for 3-Card and 24 to 60 hours for Love Clarity. When the queue is longer it can take more time, but the reading itself never gets shorter.
